Watch the video tutorial
Material: air hardening clay, 1 popsicle stick, 2 tooth picks, red & copper acrylic paint, any thick base made of wood or cardboard, golden poster paper or foam sheet for the back decoration, Tacky glue, black permanent marker, some sequins, jewels or lace etc. to decorate.
Method: 1. Take two lumps of clay. One fitting in your palm and the other twice the size.
2. Knead and make 2 balls of the clay. Roll the smaller ball in between your palms from one side so as to make the trunk. So that you have head and trunk in one piece.
3. Flatten a little bit the bigger ball. Cut the popsicle stick the size of big and small ball creation put together. You poke the stick thru the big ball and thru the head part of the small ball creation in such a way that you have the trunk over the big ball. Also apply Tacky glue in between to reinforce it. See the picture to get an idea. The stick will give support to the idol.
4. Similarly take equal smaller quantity of clay to make 2 ears. Poke a piece of the tooth pick thru the head and ears and also apply Tacky glue in between to reinforce it.
5. Now make two hands and legs by rolling small clay balls between your palms and shaping them as shown in the picture. Make the right hand in 'aashirwad' position and the other hand holding 'modak sweet'. Reinforce the arms and legs too with pieces of toothpick. Smooth the clay around the joint parts(also apply glue) so it looks one piece. Also make 'mooshik' mouse rolled in the shape shown.
6. When the idol and mouse is well dried paint it red(base coat for copper). After red color has dried, paint with copper color.
7. Draw eyes on the idol and mouse with permanent marker, decorate the base and the back sheet cut in the shape shown.
8. Glue the idol and the mouse to the base and glue the back. You can bond this with hot glue.
Your creation is ready to take a special place in your home!!
