Narrator:= In the 8th Century CE Bappa Rawal drove out the invaders from Rajasthan= and united all the kingdoms into one. Rana Sanga was his worthy descendent. In = the 16th century when the Mughal invaders were trying to establish themselves, Rana Sanga made a valiant attempt to route them from BharatR= 17;s soil.
Scene 1 – Rana’s Court
Narrator:= Rana Raimal, who ruled Mewar in the early half of the 16th century was a valiant king who upheld the glorious traditions of Hindu Dharma. After his death, his son, Rana Sanga, became king, and soon Mewar reached the summit of prosperity.

Shiladitya:= b> He must be driven out our motherland.
Rana: I l= ike your spirit Shiladitya. I put you in charge of the defense units.
Scene 2 –
Ahmed Khan:= b> Jahanpanah, we will run a great risk if we fight Rana Sanga. He is famous f= or his bravery and prowess.
Yusuf Khan:= b> You all are overawed by the valor of Rajputs.
Babur: Th= is man who has only one eye and one arm. Let us test his mettle.
Narrator:= In March 1527, Babur attacked the forces of Rana Sanga at Khanwa. Babur’s adva= nce of 1500 men was cut to pieces. Reinforcements were sent but they too made a hurried retreat.
Feroz: Ou= r soldiers have already lost heart.
Babur: I = will speak to them.
[He breaks all=

Babur: I = vow never to drink again until victory is ours and the Rajput loses his head al= ong with his eye and his arm. By the holy Quran, victory will be ours.
Scene 3 – Babur’s Camp
Narrator:= Babur sent an emissary of peace to Rana who told him that Rajputs will accept any proposal only on their terms and sent Shiladitya with the counter proposal.=
Hyder: Jahanpanah, the Rana’s emissary is here.
Babur: Br= ing him in with due honor.
Shiladitya:= b> Babur, your forces are weak and demoralized. It is not possible to defeat t= he Rana. You have no choice but to accept our terms.
Babur: Yo= u can make it possible.
Shiladitya:= b> What do you mean?
Babur: If= we join forces, we can both get what we want. I win the war and you get Chittor. I = will make you the ruler of Chittor.
Shiladitya:= b> That is an offer worth considering. But how can I trust you? You won’t go = back on your words, will you?
Babur: Yo= u can trust my word. I will take an oath. I swear by the holy Quran, I will not go back on my words. You shall be the ruler of Chittor..= span>
Scene 4 – Rana’s Camp
Narrator: Shiladitya returns to Rana’s camp.
Shiladitya:= b> Pardon me Maharaj, but Babur has rejected our proposal.
Rana: Tom= orrow we will attack. We will mount a two pronged attack. A frontal attack and an at= tack on the rear guard from that hill.
Shiladitya:= b> Our frontal attack must be strong.
Rana: Tha= t is why you will lead the attack. I have complete faith in you.
[Rana Leaves w=
ith the
troops for the hill].
Rana: Bot= h armies are ready and facing each other. Oh Mother Chandi, this will be a decisive = day.
Bhai: Loo= k! The two armies, instead of fighting, are marching together towards Chittor.
Rana: We = have been betrayed. Oh, Shiladitya, I trusted you. What have you done? You have sold = your Mother to these invaders.
Vivek Singh:<= /b> A rear attack would be in vain now. We have no choice but to retreat.
Rana: Thi= s is a cruel blow. The loss of Chittor will be a great blow to all the Rajputs. To= day I take a vow never to rest until I restore Chittor to its rightful owners. I vow not to return to Mewar until I have vanquished the Mughals.
All: We a= re with you.
Rana: Wil= l you forgive your defaulting son, Oh Mother Bharti. I could not defend you again= st the invaders.
Narrator:= rana Sangha died a few months later at Vasva. Had this great warrior not been betrayed, had he lived longer, he would have redeemed his vow. His tenacity= of purpose inspired many of his successors including Rana Pratap.
