Atlanta, GA – Wednesday, March 24, 2004 – Hindu Swayamsevak
Sangh's Atlanta Chapter has organized day-long Hindu Heritage Camps,
from April 5th till the 9th in five different locations in Atlanta
and the vicinity. The venues for the camps are located in the areas
of Marietta, Dunwoody, Duluth, Alpharetta and Norcross covering all
the counties that comprise Greater Atlanta.
The days of the camps coincide with those of the School Spring
break of the County public schools that most Hindu-American kids
attend and thus aiming to enrich their short vacation with some
meaningful activity. Says Manika Singh, a volunteer for HSS youth
activities in Duluth, "During the Spring Break the school kids are
off from School but most parents have to work; therefore they either
hire a baby-sitter for the kids or try to engage them in some
activity. So we thought we can help enrich this Spring Break
experience of kids by imparting them some cultural and traditional
values".
The day long activities of the camp integrate both, the physical
and intellectual aspects while at the same time doing so with
emphasis on the cultural, spiritual growth and personality
development based on Hindu Dharma. The activities comprise of Yoga,
Suryanamaskar, Cultural games, Stories, Arts & Crafts, Group-
discussions, etc among many others. The camps are very nominally
charged from $5 to $10 per registrant, depending on the venue and
include Lunch, snacks and a free gift. For more details of the camp
or registration information contact Dinesh at 404-661-8322
