Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh, Sacramento Nagar celebrated Vijaya Dashami Utsav on Oct 31 2004, Sunday.
This was held at Shri Laxmi Narayan Mandir. All three shakhas joined together for the Utsav. Total shankya was 60 (40 Tarun + Mahila and 20 Bala + kishor)
The program began with Surya-Namaskar followed by Musical Yoga.
After that all enjoyed games in two separate ganas for Tarun and Bala.
Later we had a fancy dress by the kids from all the three shakhas. They dressed up like many of the Ramayana characters. Each one of them spoke about the character he/she represented.
We had Saraswati Pooja and Aayudha Pooja. All the shastra (weapons) used during fancy dress were placed for Aayudha Pooja. All the kids individually performed the Saraswati Pooja assisted by adults.
Shri Sandeep Khadkekar, National coordinator – Balagokulam USA, spoke about the importance of Vijaya Dashami. This was a very interactive talk also covering how Vijaya Dashami is celebrated in different parts of India.
The function ended with prarthana and followed by delicious Pritibhoj prepared by the Swayamsevaks.
